Martin and Wood staff aren’t just fans of water. They love ice too!
On our bucket list this winter is visiting the Ouray Ice Park, a human-made ice climbing venue that includes more than 200 ice and mixed climbs. It’s set in a gorgeous canyon walking distance from the town of Ouray.
Beginning in November, the park’s “ice farmers” use overflow water from the City of Ouray and 250 sprinklers and hoses to spray water down the canyon walls of the Uncompahgre Gorge. Over the winter, the ice grows, resulting in dramatic walls of ice that attract climbers from all over the world.
The park includes beginner routes all the way up to expert climbs. For more info, visit: ourayicepark.com
